hi i have a 3.9 diff can any boby tell me how to quieten down a diff it is a bit noisy in my morris minor can i put a thick oil in the diff thanks

Seriously - no thick oil. If it's really noisy then you will need to adjust the mesh of the pinion to the crownwheel. Detailed explanation in the Workshop Manual. But first - check if the pinion nut is TIGHT.

As Mike suggests it's no big deal, they can run for years with a whining back axle. But sawdust if you really are desperate.
