Hi chaps,

not sure if this is the right area for this post but bear with me.

On the late type Smiths heater which is the inlet and which is the outlet? I'm working onthe assumption that the top hose is the inlet and the bottom the outlet. Can anyone confirm?

Regards

John

If the car is working, you could try starting it and turning on the heater. The pipe that warms up first, and is hottest is your inlet.

Really doesn't matter - whichever hose reaches.

As Roy said, it doesn't really matter operational wise, but for authenticity the BMC manual page SS.7 shows the top as the inlet.

Water cools as it passes through the matrix, so inlet at the top gives greatest efficiency, otherwise you are circulating against the physics of the thing. I doubt that the temperature drop will be too significant, but might make a small difference.
