It was the coil

Car came to a sudden stop so put old coil back on .The new Lucas coil lasted 14 months.
when I got home put the Lucas coil back on to test it nothing.

The 'never' statement refers to the original coil - not to nasty repro coils that are indeed likely to fail all too easily. Your 'old' coil will last for ever. Why did you not have faith in it ??
