Because I am a glutton for punishment I am thinking of making up my own carpets for my 2 door minor. However online, I have seen a couple of pattern options so have some questions

Is it best to have a separate carpet piece for the gearbox cover or can it all be done in one piece with the front footwell carpets?

Similarly, am I right in thinking that the carpets are cut around the handbrake mound, with a separate piece over the top of the handbrake?

Finally it looks like join between front and rear carpets happens under the front seats - but exactly where?

It's impossible to get a good fit taking the carpet right across the car.

Take a look at the carpet suppliers on Ebay as they show the layout of the carpet.

It's best to have a separate piece for the gearstick and another for the handbrake.
The front floor carpet reaches under the front seat to just behind where the seat is bolted to the floor (You will have to cut round mountings otherwise the bolts won't tighten up enough to make the seat safe.

The best carpet fit I've had was from www.techautos.uk I have a set on my convertible. The best fit around the transmission tunnel as the carpet is in 3 pieces and doesn't "gump"

The layout of the carpet depends on the model of car. The Series MM had a one piece carpet across the front footwells, actually two pieces sewn together along the transmission tunnel and the M1000 had three pieces, one in each footwell and one on the transmission cover. The overlap between front and rear carpets is just in front of the handbrake, there is a slit in the carpet over the propshaft tunnel. The rear carpets are in three sections
