Hi
If you look inside your glove boxes either side of the speedo, you will see tow holes about 3/4inch dia. If you insert a phillips head srewdriver you can loosen the screws each side. You do not need to unscrew completely as the speedo is slotted in.
Gently pull the speedo forward. You will nee to unscrew the speedo drive cable which will then allow you to pull the unit out further. There are a fair number of wires attached but don't be put off.
The ignition barrel is attached to a fixing plate the two screws are got at from underneath. allowing you to lift the unit out.
Hope this helps.

In my Henrietta (1970, 2 door saloon) the srew heads are Flat Blade and not Philips style (I have never changed them so I presumed them to be original). If you have trouble locating the srew head, try a flat blade, just in case.

CHRIS.. if you can change those two screws for Phillips head types
you will have a lot less trouble centreing the screwdriver the next
time you need to undo them

if its a 60s minor the key switch has a nut on the inside as well as the out. sounds like the nut on the inside needs repositioning, so that the chrome outer one with the slots does up on to it. that should stop it moving. if you need a replacment i have a draw full of them as leyland says dont take out the screws from the speedo just loosen them
