Morris Minor Owners Club

Hello all, Goosed here and I would like some advice please. While working on my boss's 1966 Morris minor I had to strip the fuel pump as there was no fuel being delivered to the float chamber.


I cleaned the pump and it all seems fine but i noticed a tight twist in the fuel pipe and there is a small tear in the pipe. So I have ordered a new pipe, from tank to pump, £26.


From looking under the car I cant see this being a troublesome job but perhaps there are a few pointers you could give me to make it a smooth operation?


While I have the pipe off I will also flush the tank out.

When you make the new connection into the tank, make sure you use either the original pipe fitting or one identical to it.

It looks like you can simply screw in a adapter and that's it, but in fact the standard end fitting also secures the pick-up tube inside the tank, and if this is not clamped properly, it will 'run out' of fuel quite a while before it should do, as air gets into the pick-up, so no fuel is sucked through.
