1963 Traveller Restoration Project

Post by AliceMoggy »

Hi!

Me and my dad are currently trying to restore a 1963 Traveller, named Alice. We are new to this so any tips would be appreciated!

We were wondering if there is anyone in the Oxfordshire area who would be willing to help teach us how to weld? Alice needs quite a lot of major welding done and, as we are new to this, we would like to learn how to!
Also, any tips about how to turn her over to get at the underside without twisting the chassis? We don't fancy having molten steel dripping in our faces! We've seen pictures of a 'Morris Minor cradle' - does anyone have one in the area or know how to use one?

Thanks a lot! :D

If no evening classes are available practice welding on bits of scrap metal, not just perfect stuff but painted rusty stuff.
You don't have to use a roller although it is more elegant, you can simple push it over onto tyres, a mattress or other forgiving surface.
Obviously the battery will need to come out and anything else that is likely to leak.
