Flake graphite.

I recently bought a very old tin (circa 1920s) of Foliac flake graphite. The inscriptions on the tin make a big deal of adding it to oil because bearing surfaces are full of tiny scores etc which this stuff fills and lubricates, and 'modern machinery becoming increasingly complex'. Graphite is slippery stuff and I am keen to mix some in with the oil, it suggests a teaspoonful for every pint.
What do you think?

Maybe 1920's oil needed it. What made you buy stuff that old?

Use it on every lock you own or use, I wouldn't put it in the engine for the filter to remove.

I collect old stuff to do with cars/machinery and garages and this one caught my eye. Didn't think of that one MarkyB, I suppose it would get caught by the filter! Had the tin for a while now and never used any of it so might just keep it for display.
