Hi all , the biting point on my 68 moggy 1098 is very sharp. It's either out of drive or within an inch of letting the clutch pedal up you have full drive. I have it down to a fine art but anyone driving it for the 1st time struggles to control it. Any thoughts on what it is ,, new clutch !! :o

I can only suggest starting at the beginning, is the free play set correctly?

You should be able to press the clutch pedal down an inch and a bit (amount vary, I normally aim for 1.5'') with just one finger.

If you can do this you should adjust the free play by turning the adjuster nut on the clutch linkage. Look underneath the car behind the fron off-side wheel and all will be obvious. I am guessing that you have too much free play in the linkage.

Let us know what you find.

The biting point is right at the top. Depress the clutch one third of the way and your in gear no problem

So MORE free play is required. If it's not slipping - you don't need a new clutch.
