Re-Fitting cylinder head

Post by super trimbo »

Hi All

Just a quick one, Re torqing the head down.

Obv torq down to settings in the manual, but theres no mention of re torqing it down once the engine has been run? Have I imagined this or do I need to re torq it down after running it and if I do how long should I wait? i.e run it up to temp then do it or run it around for a few days first

Run it up to normal running temp, let it cool down fully and then check the torques and valve gaps again.

Then after a few days or about 100 miles perhaps, check the torques and gaps again.

I do it once more - after the first heat cycle - then leave well alone. Use 44 ft lbf. And 15 thou gaps on the exhausts......
