So, 2013 is the big celebration for 100 years of Morris Motors. Would it would be nice to have a Google Doodle done. perhaps featuring a selection of Morris cars such as the "8", Bullnose, etc; and, of course, the Minor? There are lots of good reasons:
2013 is the 100th anniversary of the first Morris motor car in the UK.
The Morris Motors Company later produced the Morris Minor which was the first British car to sell 1 million vehicles.
The Minor has been voted “an icon of England”, has been described as “quintessentially British”, and is universally recognised and loved throughout the world.
There are still many thousands of Minors on the road.
The designer of the Minor, Sir Alec Issigonis went on to design the world famous pioneering Mini.
Loads of possible dates could be used: Birthday or death of Lord Nuffield (previously William Morris – the engineer, not the wall paper man!), launch of the Minor at the 1948 London Motor Show (October), International Morris Celebration (June) or special display at National Exhibition Centre Classic Car Show (November).
If you like the idea, then why not tell Google about it? There is no guarantee that it will happen, but I suspect that if enough people put the idea forward then it might just register somewhere. If you like the idea, then all you have to do is email a suggestion, in your own words, to proposals@google.com
