Water temp sender for 1098 engine

Hello chaps, has anyone got or knows where I can buy a water temp sender
unit for my 1098 cylinder head. I understand that one for a early mini will
fit. My new electric guage came with a sender but it is too long. Thankyou

Just a small point. The gauge and sender must be 'matched' otherwise the gauge will be inaccurate. I would look at getting an adaptor made up so you can use the sender that came with the gauge.

And - it must be fed from the stablised power supply on the back of the speedo. Frankly - capillary gauges are much better.....

I'll 'third' that! Had to screw an adaptor in first to allow room for the capillary bulb.

Hello chaps, thanks to everyone who has replied. Well I'm not sure which
road to go down. I bought a pair of gauges, the oil pressure gauge and its sender
fitted without a problem. I've no idea where I could get an adapter from. Has
anyone had one made. I read a few of the posts before and it seems a lot of members
have had problems with the gauges and wiring, senders etc. Another chap told
me gauge and sender usually come as a matched pair. Many thanks, keith.

What make of electric temperature gauge is it? If it's Smiths, then the sender from a BMC car, which used Smiths gauges as standard will work fine (with of course the voltage stabiliser unit). It is is not Smiths, then you will need a matching sender and very likely not a voltage stabiliser - I am not aware of any other make that uses one.
The 'normal' thread in the side of the head is 5/8" UNF; are there Smiths senders that will screw straight in without needing any adaptor?
