oh and the gearbox! not sure if this is a common minor thing or not. Bell goes into first no problem, move up through the gears fine, then down into third fine, but if you go into second gear at any speed over 10 miles an hour though it slips in it makes a sort of constant whiring noise even with the clutch in. the noise isn't there going up the gears or if you go from third to second at say 5 miles and hour.

is that a common thingy?

its sort of like the clutch isnt fully disengaging the engine / gearbox but only at certain times with second gear. :-?

Very common - don't DO IT! The syncromesh is worn. So just don't down shift into 2nd gear - or learn to double-de-clutch. Next up the box will start to jump out of second gear - you want to avoid that......

Double declutch...

You put the clutch in, take the gear out of third, press a little on the accelerator, clutch in again and put into second? is that right bmcecosse?

you are turning into my morris angel - have you got a name?
