The hand brake cable on the passenger side has broken in two
Hoping to replace it tomorrow - are there any specific difficulties to look out for (any tips)?
The forward anchor point is just on the curve of the tunnel/floor immediately in front of the toe board. If there is any sound proofing or old carpet there then it can be really difficult to find the nut, but it will be there. The plate over where the cable comes through the tunnel should have a packing piece underneath it to prevent the cable fraying where it passes through the tunnel wall. If that piece has disintegrated then you can make a new one with a bit of leather - the end of a broad belt from a charity shop will be a cheap option. Make sure that you fit a quality cable with the greasing point included and not a cheap non-greasable one. If you can't get access to the bits inside the tunnel then remove the prop shaft for better access.
Oil the ends of the inner cable to prevwnt rusting and fraying.
Jack both rear wheels up on stands, pull on handbrake then try turning the wheels, they should both be locked. Release the handbrake 1 click and try turning the wheels, they should both have the same resistance, if not adjust the nuts on the handbrake ends of the cables.
Pump in grease...... And slacken back the other good cable. Fit the cable and make sure the connection to the wheel cylinder can 'swivel' . Then adjust up the rear brakes in the hubs - and then tighten up both cables to get even resistance. Actually - may be an idea to fit TWO new cables - then they will stretch in as a pair. Finally slap lots of grease on the exposed cable end at each rear wheel. NB - are you not running a Marina axle? Does it use Minor cables??

We have 2 moggies. One is mine which is standard - 1968 4 door saloon and the other is Steve's traveller which is modified.
It is the 'normal' one (which belongs to the normal person) which has the broken handbrake cable
