Piping on Custom Paint Minor

Hello all, just a quick question as i look at the things i am planning to do to my newly acquired minor one of which is changing the colour to a metallic green, how would i go about the piping for the rear wings? i am guessing it would be a case of finding the closest match in the trim or could it also be sprayed?
a way off the painting but i like things to be planned ahead
PS will get some pictures when i can the brakes are seized on at the moment and nearly kills me to move it

You could go for the closest match. Almond green is probably the closest available. Or you could go for a contrasting colour, picking out the colour of the wheels or something.
I've seen piping painted before, where the wings were painted on the car. It soon cracks though, especially if you have to remove the wing for something.

thanks for the quick reply, i think i will go for either the white or black piping then as i am going to have the dua tone green and white interior with the white wall inserts maybe.... haven't decided yet, could go with the black and just have that contrasting with the wheels either way it's food for thought and i now know that i am NOT painting them

Why not just filler them over, go for that nice smooth custom look.

If fully repainting a car though, I presume it will currently have very solid wings! And surely this would help eliminate the very common rust trap between the body and wing as no water could get in? future repairs to the bottom of the wing would still be very much possible, so it would only be crash damage, in which case I would imagine you will be doing more bodywork and filllering anyway!

Yeah I was thinking more of damage than rust. A carpark ding where only the wing is damaged. Well that's what puts me off fillering the wings on anyway!
Filler on the top may stop water getting in from above, but doesn't stop water spraying off the wheels getting in the gap from inside the wheelarch...

My Mog came with painted-over piping (original color was one of the blues, sort of a sky blue, don't remember the name; new color close to Maroon B but not exact), but the paint had cracked off in spots and the piping was in bad shape anyway, so I ordered some white piping. It looks a treat:[frame]

But black would probably look better on metallic green, unless the green is quite dark.

wow thanks for the replies some more things on there i hadn't thought about and the colour i am hoping to use is very similar to BRG but metallic, i think i will have to get it sprayed up and just leave the trim off until holding the black, green or white colour against it to see which looks the best.
i do like the white against the maroon though

Wing piping is also available in dark green. BRG - available from most morris suppliers.

it might be worth doing some research before deciding, i do seem to recall reading that they can rub against the side wall and damage them..

i can't seem to find any reviews on them at all no matter where i look but if in the long term will damage the tire then that's definitely a no go, just thought it would finish the look of it off nut would look good without just the same
once again thanks for the quick replies and will hunt down some BRG inserts i think

a quick search show you can get paint..

which would remove any risk of rubbing but still give you white walls.. never tried it so i am not recommending it by the way

excellent! never thought of actual paint for the tyres, that's it white walls it is

i'll give it a try and if it isn't any good well....at least we all know it isn't then
