depending on what finish you have on the wood you can wet a cloth and press a hot iron on it to make it steam and sometimes the indentation comes out , not saying it will work for you as it depends on the finish. you may have to remove it first, but I have removed quite large indentations before

Haven't had any time (or money) until now for the Morris but I'm just about to put a (Hopefully) final order into ESM to get ready for the MOT. I think the tires, especially the front two, have seen better days so was inspecting them all properly for the first time.

I realised the rear o/s was a modern tire. A Nankang 155/55R14. I have a spare with the same tire which I haven now put on the rear n/s to even up the car. The old tire n/s tire was much smaller!

Question is, can you put this size of tire on an original slim rim? I thought you had to have one of the newly made wide rims to fit a wide tubeless tire.

Can anyone tell from these photos if this is definitely an original rim and not a wide rim? I'm sure it's not.

They are original Series II wheels and it is fine to use tubeless tyres. In fact your options are pretty limited if you want tubed tyres now. The 155 is absolutely fine and very commonly used, although 145 is closer to original. Be aware that the profile (resulting in outside diameter) of the tyre will have an effect on the speedo, although it is virtually impossible to get the speedo to read less than actual, so no major worries there.

Lovely. I won't worry about getting wide wheels then if I can use these tires.

So it's been a while but I rolled Morris out today and changed the headlights for some halogen units. Well..... see you all in 3 years.

I'm using the car this week now that the seats are welded in. Got some seatbelts coming.
The plan is to replace the sliding windows with painted panels so it can be used as a van.
Need to get a new retaining plate for the gearstick to see if that helps the issue with selecting reverse.

It is quite possible that you have the wrong gearstick fitted if selection is tricky. The 948 (smoothcase) gearbox and the 1098cc (ribbed case) gearbox use a slightly different gearstick. You need the right stick to achieve good gear selection

I did consider that so I might wait until I go to an autojumble to compare what I have. It's drivable for now.

Got the seats mounted and bought seat belts. Mounted a seat belt but can't orientate the reel and mounts in a way that doesn't twist the belt at some point.
Anyone got a photo of their seat belt mounted correctly?

Fan belt is squeeling when the lights are on driving at night so ordered a new one to see if that sorts it.

Need to paint and fix the gearbox tunnel floor panel down so I can put some sound deadening and underlay in. So it's basically mint.

Squealing fan belt is often either the belt is too loose, or there is oil/grease on it. A good clean of the various pulleys would be a good idea before you fit the new belt. Check the tension is correct. Some folks sprinkle powdered chalk on the belt to stop the squealing if it is a bit greasy.

Fitted wing mirros today after seeing all the shiney moggies at Beaulieu museum a few months ago I decided I liked the placement by the quarter lights. Not difficult a job. Unscrewed the 2 screws holding the top quarter light hinge and removed quarter light. Pulled seal back and bolted through the triangle bit of chrome.
