Does anyone know anything about this car, have you owned her before ?
I would like to find out anything I can especially the original colour as she has been sprayed a terrible black.
I am in the process of restoring her back to original so any help would be appreciated.
Many thanks

Have a look under the back seat, under the door cards, behind the glovebox covers etc. You can usually find a trace of the original paint somewhere.
Also if you send £25 to the British Motor Heritage centre they will send you a certificate telling you what the car left the factory with (key codes, paint etc).

Hi Donna! (Welcome btw!)
Have you still got the plate under the bonnet? It will have a number on it which you can use to decode the colour. If you tell us the year of your car two it'll help narrow down possible codes
Good luck!

If the car is A reg then it's probably a 1963 car, so the ID plate will not give the colour code. Only plates up to 1958 give the colour code (Car numbers starting with F or O). If the number starts with M or A then there is no colour code.

Hazza! Cam to the rescue again! I didn't know that either!
Thanks Cam!

another useless/Interesting fact
before the government introduced age related plates, if the car was a 6 digit plate and had it's reg sold, it ended up with an A-plate.... so not all A-plates are 63.

so not all A-plates are 63.
Very true that. We can tell it's age from the chassis number though..... (with or without colour code

)

Right on the plaque under the bonnet it reads :
Morris Motors Ltd
Cowley, Oxford, England
When ordering replacements quote
Car No - M/A2S5 D 996767

Morris Minor 2 Door saloon, 1098cc, Deluxe model.
It is a later car as suspected, so there is no colour information unfortunately.
According to the chassis number, I would say that the car was built between October and November 1962.
It is one of the first 1098cc models, only 6477 cars after the first 1098.

late 62 or early 63 - ought to be a 1098cc engine
I would guess you don't have the fresh air hose in the engine bay for the heater?

Studonmar, if the fresh air hose was there you would be hard put to miss it!
It's a black plastic tube (flexible) about 4 inches wide and two foot long running from the front panel to the scuttle in front of the driver's seat.
