Hi Chaps,
Can anyone tell me of a supplier for the lockwasher which retains the 2 bolts wich screw into the main bearing block at the front of the engine. I've just ordered another one from Moss, and they have sent me part number 12G2097, which is an oil pump lockwasher, which, if it's the same one as they supplied before, doesn't fit.
Regards
John

Just put split washers under the bolts - and a spot of Loctite on the threads..

John,
Do you mean the 2 bolts just under the nose of the crankshaft that go through the front plate into the front main bearing cap?
On the 948/1098 there is a 2-hole lock tab, part number 6K 831. Moss show Pt. No. 12G 2097, which as you say is one of the oil pump locktabs. On the 1275, or any engine that has been fitted with a duplex timing chain, the holes are, or should be, countersunk and countersunk headed Allen screws used with no lock tab.
On the 948/1098, so long as everything is dry, you could eliminate the lock tab and use a spring washer and Loctite, as Roy suggested. Make sure there is clearance between the bolt head and the chain once everthing is back in place, and before you fit the timing cover.

BM have them, their P/N is 10M113. £1 each. Much cheaper to go Roy's way.
