differential replacement

Post by DDESTREE »

My actual diff (9/41 teeth- 4.55 ratio) has to be changed .My minor 1000 is a 948cc from 1960 .
Can I use other type of diff( and which type) without reducing performance ? Do I need to change the 2 half shaft?
Any good suggestion and address of serious provider would be appreciated .

I suggest getting hold of a 4.22 final drive. And no need to change half shafts. But why the need to change anything?

A 4.22 diff would redue acceleration and hill climbing ability, and possibly top speed. You would also need to change the speedo. Unless you are upgrading the engine, stick with a 4.55 diff.
No need to change the half shafts unless they are damaged

The 4.22 will probably just make the speedo read correctly - rather than the normal fast!
