Diff Drain Plug Woes.

Hi All,
Drained Jethro's diff oil today and having cleaned the drain plug and replaced it securely went to take out the filler/level plug.
Sod It! The previous owner had done up the plug and managed to round off the square indent so my multi key won't grip to remove it. Looks like I will have to try to get a stillson wrench on the portion of the plug that stands proud unless anyone has a simple solution to the problem.
I ordered two new drain plugs from Moss so it won't matter if I destroy the burred one in the process of removal!

Good News Everybody!
I managed to grind down one of the square keys on my drain plug multi-tool (Halfords £5.95) so that it could be tapped into the burred hole and located at the very bottom where it was still square.
A careful bit of pressure and the B#st%rd thing moved! After refilling with Hypoid oil I cleaned up the hole in the plug with a Mini grinding point on my Dremel, dressed the face with a grinding wheel and refitted it temporarily until the replacement arrives.

Some one will be along soon to tell you to loosen the filler plug before removing the drain.

Yes, the "Wise after the Event" brigade seldom miss an opportunity to tell you how it should have been done!

As the car has been restored to such a high standard all round the last thing I expected was a damaged £4 filler plug!

Thank you, The car has had a total restoration body and chassis wise and I have just finished updating tired engine parts and electrical equipment.
The previous owners did seem to cut corners on small details like the grunged filler plug so I have had to go through the car from stem to stern to make sure everything is as it should be.
