Hello,
I have been experiencing oil leaking from my 1275 midget engine. But i think i have located it...??? After cleaning the engine down then going for a short ride i found lots of oil coming from the area where the dipstick is & then running down to the rear side of the sump. When I lifted the dipstick (with the engine running) out oil came out like a fountain. I've never had any issues with the dipstick part of the engine/never serviced or fitted that part...But on mine I noticed the plastic sleeve that it sits in feels loose... turning it doesn't tighten it....i wonder if a new sleeve that fits into the block is threaded and supposed to provide a better seal for the oil?

Re: Oil leak from engine
Sounds to me you have pressure in the crankcase if the oil comes out like a fountain.
Re: Oil leak from engine
Definitely a problem with pressure. Check that none of the breather tubes are blocked. If a vented filler cap, then check that too. Check compression on all cylinders and make sure that you haven't got a ring problem.

HUGE pressure in the crankcase - investigate urgently...... Did this happen suddenly? With the engine hot and idling - remove the oil filler cap and rev up. Is there a plume of smoke/fume......?

Yes... there is smoke coming out of the filler hole...I'm worried now

Re: Oil leak from engine
Indicates combustion gas blow-bye past the pistons/rings...... Time to pull the pistons for inspection of rings + bores.

Re: Oil leak from engine
A few months ago I changed the head gasket & tightened the sump nuts at the same time. All seemed to be ok for a while then I checked the oil and it was low. I've not really driven it since. Sounds like bad news
