Post by mike.perry »

Has anyone counted the number of Emotional Rollercoasters at the games???????? It seems that every competitor has at least one.

I would imagine Lord Coe wouldn't be a good panellist on "Have I got News for You", nor a suitable replacement for Jeremy Paxman!

What the opening ceremony (which a brilliant piece of stage craft, even if not historically accurate) did do was to confirm that Paul McCartney can no longer sing. He was poor at the Jubilee and dire at the Olympics. Such a shame, and a good reason why we need a retirement age! I speak with authority - I can't sing a note either.

Who cares whether they went to a state school or a private one - they have devoted themselves to their particular sport, put in the hours, now they are reaping the rewards! :P

I do for one, I've been disgusted to see the playing fields of London schools being sold to property developers.
I rather doubt this will be the fate of the playing fields of Eton!
It does kids a power of good to run around and play games, what have we got now? Obese kids, surprise surprise!

Why have all these private/public school posts started to appear? What have I missed?

Dunno, but Allegro Club had an Olympic themed display at BMC/BL rally yesterday. :)

Many Minors there too along with a great assortment of cars from the 1930s to 1990s.

It was load of fuss in "the media" about how most of our competitors came from a "privileged" background, and how the "common" people can't afford to do sport. I think it comes down to "Let's perpetuate the 'class war' as long as possible"
