Secret Switch

I've been reading through the history of the my car and have found a letter from 1985 with the owner asking a garage to add a secret switch. I have the reply from the garage (I won't tell you the location of the switch) but it says "Have fixed a rocker switch for petrol pump, on when 'level'.

Is this some kind of security device, for the petrol pump to stop working if car is stolen? What does it mean by 'rocker' and 'on when level'?

I haven't looked to see if the switch is still there but would it still be functioning?

Why the pm's, he only wanted to know what 'rocker' means and the term level. Rocker is the type of switch and 'on when level' would refer to the switch being activated when in a level position ( level to what, only you will see/know) and yes it would be a security device.

To be effective -you must get in to the habit of using it EVERY time you leave the car.......

It's a dodge that's been around as long as the Minor and won't prove hard to find.

A more effective way of foiling thieves involves removing a component from under the bonnet, which unless they are carrying a specific one around they ain't going nowhere. :)

I don't think we should discuss any form of security on an open forum. You never know who's reading this!

Yes! Put a 2 position switch somewhere hidden, in the 12v feed to the fuel pump. Or possibly ign.
