Hi all,
I have just bought a 1971 Traveller that needs rebuilding, and the project needs to be done within 10 - 12 months. Whilst I am keen on keeping the character of the car and retaining its engine I would like to add modern conveniences ie heated windows, stereo, uprated brakes etc.
The woodwork is sound but I plan on stripping it and re-coating. As I plan on using it all year what would be the best coating to use. I have a mechanic booked to sort out the engine to make sure everything is ok and to convert it to run on unleaded. I plan on renewing the wiring loom and interior but I would welcome any advice on how to go about this project and the best things to do and what order to tackle them.
Cheers in advance for any help/advice that you can give me.
Chris.

Welcome to the messageboard
There's lots of advice available here but probably the best thing to do first is post up plenty of photos of your traveller so that people can see what needs doing and can then advise on which order to do it in. You say that it needs 'rebuilding' - Do you mean a full restoration with welding, body panels & paintwork required? If so, it seems a bit early to be thinking about fitting a stereo and heated windows.
Rosetaupe's traveller restoration thread here is well worth a look: http://www.mmoc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f= ... 98&start=0
And there's a thread here regarding woodwork preparation: http://www.mmoc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=14856
Details of how to post a photo are here: http://www.mmoc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=36971
