stuck in 1st gear.. help!

so the other day i drove my 69 moggy onto my drive, and all of a sudden it decides it doesnt want to come out of first gear...at all. iv tried everything i can think of, rolling it back, rocking it etc. the clutch is sound but the sticks well stuck in place, any advice is welcomed, cheers :)

Can only suggest driving forwards and lifting off suddenly - while yanking the lever back at the same time....... Otherwise - it's strip down and apply tyre levers. You must of course then find the reason - been covered before, and I think is due to too much endfloat in the main shaft.

yea i tried that to no avail, guess im gonna have to take it apart and find the problem, cheers

well i just took it for a spin and battered the poor thing, its came out tho, better go round the block to make sure its all good

Well done - but start looking for another box - and minimise use of that 1st gear meantime.....

hello everyone,
Just a thought, I had exactly the same thing happen to me a few years ago. I'm not suggesting the two problems were the same but in my case, the bolt that secures the selector to the rod had come loose. Like I said, it might not be the same for you, but it was an easier fix for me to drain the oil out and take off the side cover plate to look inside and tighten it up than take the complete box out. Perhaps worth a look?
