Back Seat Frames

Post by StuartbAndrews »

Can someone help me out here.
I have a 1958 2 door saloon that I am updating the interior.
I got new seat covers for the front from Newton Comm which were great and fitted perfectly.
I then got the covers for the back seat and the shape does not match frame.
It would appear that the back seat is from a later model.
Does anyone have a photo of a 1958 back seat so that I can see where the problem lies?
Newton Comm are sure that they made the covers for the correct year and model.... but I want to be sure before I try and locate a replacement frame..... (does anyone have an old 1958 2door back seat spare?)[frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame]

The 1958 seat shape is different to the later ones, they have a curved edge to match the rear interior panels, the later cars had a different system, I know because I have an early seat with the later trim panels and there is an unsightly gap on my '58

These are from a 1960 2door saloon, but will be the same shape as the earlier one's, just a different style of cover [frame]Image[/frame]

Looks like Newton have used the wrong pattern.

Many thanks for the photos.
Dear WPR 678B.... I don't suppose you are willing to part with that 60's back seat are you???
It seems to match my new covers perfectly!

I think in one of my sheds I have a seat base of this era , ( but it will take some time to find ) , I am removing the covers for use in making new front seat covers so could be avalible.
