My exhaust box has developed an annoying 'nail being shaken about in a tin' noise, which I've been told is characertistic of some of the exhaust baffles having broken up. The exhaust has been fitted not much longer than a year.
Eventually I'll get round to replacing it; and I've been toying with the idea of buying one of the stainless steel exhausts available. However, I don't want to part with the extra cash if I'm going to be in the same situation in another 18 months' time!
The current exhaust was not expensive (mild steel); and in fact a couple of people have advised me that because I use my car every day, it's much less likely to rust anyway. Is it just a fact of life that the exhaust baffles do break up (meaning I'll just have to lump it) or are some better than others? Any advice would be appreciated.
Cheers.

Just the same in at least some of the stainless exhausts. Very rattly after a few years - in my case...

the stainless exhaust i purchased came with a life time guarantee, i would certainly claim if the baffles went, not sure that it would be covered after being fitted to two different cars but

Thanks everyone... sounds like charlie_morris_minor got lucky with that exhaust. My car covers ~15k a year, so I suppose I can expect it to happen much sooner than it would on a 'weekend' car.
