Every thermostat i've ever fitted had a small hole with a little peardrop valve arrangement in it. The one I fitted today didn't.
Cheap and nasty or someone feels it's not necessary now?

Re: thermostat
I guess it's there to allow water to flow back when cooling down - since I block the horrible bypass hose - I just remove the 'pear' to allow a little water to flow in either direction. I guess it's been eliminated to save pennies in the manufacturing. Can't see any harm - but if worried - just drill a 1/8" hole..........
