My father has joined the morris family and bought himself a 948 convertible now called penny . She been running ok until today when it stalled and then would not start, no lights on the ignition...but push button on the solenoid and it turns over but obviously doens start, checked fuses and loose wires but canny see anything. Any clues?
we had to tow penny home but there was no towing eye on the chassis (horrace has a nice big ring!) so i was forced to use the bumper iron

Is the solution her to weld on an eye to the chassis or is there a good place to attach to that i missed?
cheers guys!

Check the largish wire that goes to the solenoid, not the one to the battery or starter.
Round where the tie rod joins the chassis is strong enough to use for towing.

Use a loop of rope round BOTH tie bars - so you split the load over two places - and get a nice central pull on the car. As for the electrics - is everything lost (no lights/horn etc) - or just the key controlled circuits (wipers/indicators - ignition) ?

Also check the connections on A and A1 on the regulator. Does the horn and interior light work?
When this happened to me one of the bars on the back of the regulator had come adrift so power was not getting from A to A1.

as if by magic the fault was gone this morning! i replicated it by removing said wire from solenoid and thats what the problem was, just cleaned up the connections and so far so good. have taken note on towing recs thanks
