Non-Brit insurance

Post by midengineracer »

That probably got attention!

I am an American here in the UK with a Traveller (US military stationed here). I am trying to get reasonable insurance that protects my Traveller appropriately and Footman James can't help (I'm not a British citizen). My insurance company will only do classic stuff when it is in the US.

So... Who can recommend a good classic insurance company? I am currently stuck insuring for ~280 pounds but depreciated value that doesn't account for condition, market etc... (so, like 10 pounds).

Help is really, really appreciated!

Surely the US Military can arrange cover for you? What do other car owners on the base do?

Allow me to add (as Americans are wont to do) that your fellow citizens thank you for your service. Moreover, I think it's fantastic that you were deployed to the UK and got a Minor! 8)

As Roy said, I imagine the Armed Forces can do something, and if they can't, that's something they should fix. Aside from that, surely there are American (or British) companies who insure internationally? One can insure anything one likes, for a price... As I recall, US military bases anywhere in the world (along with embassies) count as US soil. With that in mind, I should think that any American insurance company should insure a car registered at a base.
