Hi all, just trying to help, this nice little car appeared out of the blue a few weeks back in my old mum and dad's cul-de-sac in Essex. All the people are elderly, and none of them have any knowledge about who owns it! Being a nosey old git, i done a few checks today, she seems all Kosher (not stolen, insured, taxed, etc,) the reg is CJG 883B, 1964 drophead, and i enclose a few pics i took today. A really strange place to leave such a car (ie all the properties in the road have drives, i'm sure we would all rather park her there?) Ps, can i feel a reward coming on?[frame]

Sounds like normal action of a car theif, park the car up somewhere leave it for a couple of days, then come back and see if been recovered if not it's gone forever. I would contact the Police who will then contact the owner and check to see reported stolen. If you can remove a wheel without causing damage so it can't be driven away, inform the Police what you have done.

Can't do that just because i think it may be stolen, would be breaking the law!

Mr Nosey, There is nothing stopping you in law to report a suspected stolen or abandond vehicle, if it turned out to be i'm b***dy sure the Police and the owners would be most greatful, that you did file a report. Think of it this way if it was your car parked up down a srange street wouldn't you want somebody to report it. I bet you would.
Irmscher, as it classed as historic classic the tax disc is issued direct from DVLC swansea so it wont show a P O issue stamp.

It can't do any harm reporting it to the local police station. They can contact the owner and then take it from there.

Just go into your local Police and report it giving the road the vehicle is in.

Mr Nosey. Essex Police H Q is in Chelmsford, the general enquiers office No is 01254 491491. I can't do any more than what i have it's up to you.
Not all owners want to be members of the national club.

Rubbish!
I always tax my cars at the local Post Office, unless, like last year, I'm reviving a sleeper that needs its class changing. I taxed my Midget there a fortnight ago - taxation clas "Historic".
I agree with the rest of the advice to report it as "suspicious".

Tax disc just means its been done online or at a DVLA office rather than the local PO. Its a shame as you loose the local stamp which is always interesting for seeing where a car is from and a little part of its history, if you keep old tax discs. I always do mine at the PO if convenient...
Yes, back to the car in question, do report it, you may be saving someone a lot of anguish and no harm done if its parked legit.
