I was at the Tatton Park Show on Saturday where i bought a Genuine Lockheed M /C kit. (SSB723 Repair Kit)
Iv checked the bits against the pic above and there seems to be 2 bits missing A Valve Cup and a Spring seat . Should they be in the pack ??? as i can't remember putting any of the above back in to my M / C last time i had it out.

Another daft question which is the front of the spring the wide end of the narrow.

I'm asking because I'm not sure if my M / C bits where in the right order when i last stripped it down I replaced the same way as they came out but i just want to make sure that I'm doing it right as the brakes have never been good and if the person who had the car put the bits in wrong id just be copying his mistake and ill still have the problems I have now.

If the bits missing should be in the pack has anyone got spares that i can buy.

Just checking before i take the thing out this weekend.

Many thanks

Alan :)

The valve cup (or "top hat" seal should be in the kit. The spring seat would not be in the kit. Both the spring seat and the valve body fit onto/into the spring, so it should be obvious which way round they fit. The diagram shows perfectly the correct assembly order.

Looking at the above diagram I have the Valve Body but not the valve cup or is the top hat looking thing both pieces put together. Also the spring seat do i need one as i cant see one either.

Many thanks

Alan

Seriously - just buy a new master cylinder......this is a safety critical item and you don't know how to assemble it????

Iv just spent 4 Hours taking it out, checking it out for rust and grooves, cleaning it up and and replacing bits as the diagram and putting it back in . Your right of course, If its not satisfactory tomorrow after bleeding it Ill look at getting a st/st lined one at the National.

Thanks once again for advice.

Still learning , but at least now I'm not frightened to give it a go. :D
