oil change

bit of a silly question is this the right engine oil?

this is what halfords recomend for my car but is it right?
my car is a 1969 morris minor sallon

I think 10 is a little too thin for a classic
remember halfords staff can be a little inexperienced and are after all sales people,most in my local are probably under 23 yrs old

go to b&q they do comma 20/50 for about 12 pounds it reaches thecorrect speck .i think the name is daytona its in a blue can . azda has gone up to 16 pounds for a 4litres ,wilkinsond is the cheapest .

just to confurm i use the same 20w50 oil i put in the engine in the gear box

I think the gearbox oil should be a straight SAE 30 ,You can still buy it,fuchs sell it on amazon

Well yes - 20 oil is a bit light - but if the box works ok - use it! There WAS no '20' grade oil when the Minor was produced. I certainly wouldn't use 10W40 in the gearbox - that's just a bit too thin, although it was specified for later Minis in an attempt to pull up the fuel economy - but then better syncro rings were fitted by that time !
