Sidevalve Engine color(s)

I have 2 sidevalve engines, and one in parts, but they have 2 different colors.
2 of them are Grey, one of them is green.
Which one is the right color for a 51 MM?
It looks like the color is changed when they stopped with the lowlight, or is the green color not the right one?[frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame]
The spare cilinderhead is also grey.[frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame]

And last but mot least, the color number, or address where to buy?

I have the same greay as your gearbox on my 1952. ICI had a Birmingham factory so they may have been the original supplier. ICI still sell paint to the original colour codes but they are expensive.

Engines may later have been sprayed with whatever colour they had after mixing up all the old paint left on Friday afternoon. That might explain why there are so many different colours????

Try the next message below yours, "Barn Find 1953...." somewhere toward the middle there is a ref to SMC Systems and engine paint, Admiralty Grey.
Seemed reasonable price etc so I have ordered mine from SMC, hasn't arrived yet They advertise on e-bay.
