Just in from a frustrating time trying to fit the front cylinder bridging pipes. I remember from last time I did this job what a complete pain in the a**e it was getting them to tuck neatly into the back plate, and line up with the cylinders.
Just had a "eureka moment" however - removed the hub, cylinders and back plate so that I can fit the pipe without the lower trunnion getting in the way - and without having to lie on the floor cursing because my near vision isn't as good as it used to be....
I wouldn't be at all surprised if this was the way the car was built - a back plate already fitted up just being bolted in position.

I may of course be back in a while eating my words if I've missed an obvious reason as to why it won't work.....

Of course that's how the car was built! Sub-assemblies - minimise time on the line...... Hope you are not using silly 'copper' pipes.......

Copper? Indeed not! windscreen washer pipe of course, nice and flexible! (Kunifer in fact!)
All fitted on one side now YIPPEE

Well done.....kunifer is a bit more difficult to work with - but lasts 'for ever'......
