30th Anniversary Trip - Minors on Tour 2012 - Souillac

Post by brucek »

Just a friendly shout out to the 80 plus intrepid Minor Owners who are busily greasing their trunnions, and packing all sorts of conceivable spares into every tiny corner of their Morris (and some even take a spare coil, Roy! ) in preparation for the journey South to Souillac and - hopefully - some sun, and plenty of refreshing beer!

Big thanks to Ash and Pam and their band of helpers and volunteers for organising the trip and arranging for the vists and social activity when we are on site.

As for me, well, cash flow issues at the start of the year meant that my plans to have my '59 convertible back on the road for the trip were temporarily thwarted, however, in true MMOC style, my very good friends Roger and Pat Buck are lending me their '64 Black Traveller to make the trip. Re-aquainting myself with a Traveller again after so many years of not driving a Morris has been an absolute joy and I'm really looking forward to the drive. I'll have to change my signature pics when I get back.

All being well, I hope to post a few updates on this thread as the week progresses along with a few photo's if I can. In the meantime, hope everyone has a safe, enjoyable and uneventful trip there and back and enjoys motoring and socialising in a fabulous part of the world.

Remember, your Minor is for driving so don't fear taking it to places many would not!! A bientot mes amis

Here are my 'wheels for the week' - a fairly standard '64 transition Traveller with electronic ignition, alternator and MG Metro seats front and rear. Driving it WILL be a blast!!

This may seem a very, very silly question, but what date do you plan / were you in Souillac??

I only ask as I'm going to be in the Lot between the 2nd and 10th July, and would love to pop to Souillac to see you all.

Oh - and also plan to surprise my other half for her birthday, as I've just bought her a '66 convertible as a surprise!

Actually, a quick Google shows that it's been and gone, with an article in La Depeche:

Hope you had a great time! :)

Bonjour mes amis - yes we're all back and enjoying the delights of the English summer!! :o

Happy to report that, for me, the trip was almost entirely trouble free. The only slight glitch appeared to be a intermittent fault on the charging circuit which meant that the bettery was completely dead when we arrived at the site. A new battery was purchased and this got us through the rest of the week and back to Blighty where the cause will now be investigated.

As expected, the cars aroused much interest wherever they went and the region was well and truly explored by us all.

I have posted some holiday snaps so you can see where we all went. Enjoy :D
