Does anybody know if the Gunsons Eezibleed kit can be used with the standard Moggy master cylinder? If not are there any other ideas to aid brake bleeding. I have never been good at it!

You need to find an old master cylinder cap and drill a hole in it to accept the connector that the ezibleed kit contains. The ones supplied in the kit are for cylinders that have an external thread (male)

Also saw a "pump" up style (like a garden sprayer) going for similar money the other week. Pretty sure it was in PC or Kit Car.... Will try to look it out.
You'll still need to mod a cap but this one saves mucking about with spare tyres... mind you, you may get batter pressure out of the tyre... pump it up well, my mate used 3 tyres worth when doing his Golf (he had some problems!)

An ezebleed m/c cap sounds like another very useful tool that the specialists should look at making & supplying (the really obvious one being the device to bend the torsion bars).

I could get some made if there's enough demand... have to be more than the few of us on here. Maybe the club would like to invest??

I managed to drill a new cap and fit the tube to it OK. It's a bit of a fiddle and if it goes wrong you'll need a new cap, and I am told by one supplier that these are difficult to get now. The new one I bought was drilled for the Eezibleed kit, so still need a new cap for the cylinder.

It would be very helpful for someone to manufacture a Minor-friendly cap. I would buy one if the price was reasonable.

I have an old cap and drilled mine out for the easibleed, but the nut wont fit inside the cap. The inside of the cap needs opening up to take the nut soat the moment I still can't use it and I can't get a DIY drill big enough to do it (it'll be a machine shop job.... and I thought using an easibleed would be easy )

Yes but I don't have any taps in my garage, and as it didn't say what thread was required I thought it would be easier to use the backing nut and drill it slightly in clearance... Doh!

You are not alone Ray - confession time, me too, my first attempt was to drill the hole, push the pipe through with a view to fitting the backing nut! Then, after discovering the backing nut wouldn't screw on, get hold of another 2nd hand cap.

Well I feel a bit better and I'm sure we are far from alone, as the nut looks smaller than the diameter inside the cap (until you try and fit it )

I have a spare Master Cylinder cap so, as suggested, I will tap it 1/8 bsp for the Eezbleed unit. In use have you found that it automatically gave a good air-less brake system or were there any additional procedures that you found needed to be followed to get the best out of the unit?

Before drilling and tapping to 1/8 BSP I would just make sure that it is that thread woo. My Eeezibleed kit was purchased in the late 70's and you never know with some manufacturers they may have changed the thread size/type

I have found it works well with the Minor system, take your time, start with the wheel cylinder furthest from the master cyl. and finish at the nearest to it (if you're doing the lot). Keep a watch on the plastic bottle fluid level. Don't use too high a pressure in the tyre, reduce it a bit if necessary and stick to the Gunsons recommendations. No explosions then or fluid covering everything.

I obtained an old M/C cap . Followed the instructions given with the kit . Drilled / cut the correct thread.I had to file the top of the cap to flatten it . Made another gasket to fit between M/C and cap .. No probs . Works like a dream !! Arfron
PS. I just remembered, I also wrapped some PFTA tape around the thread ,going into the cap. ' Belts and Bracers ' as they say in the plumbing trade !!
I put in silicone brake fluid -- it took about 3 sessions to clear out the air . I also found that raising the rear and ,if needs be , the front end, of the car (on stands)helped dislodge air trapped at the rear end .( one end at a time !! ) The A40 Cambridge Girling brake M/C often required ,that the front end was aimed up a steep bank/ drive , and the pedal was given a heafty kick to shift the trapped air , ergo , same principle !!

in some literature it shows that gunsons used to make a cap for the mini master cylinder, wouldn't that work with the moggie mc?

The mini cap is smaller than the minor one, also one has an external thread the other an internal thread. However it is highly probable that woo is now sorted given the date of his/her enquiry.
