Dynamo sparking

Post by WillsMck »

Hello, I have just had my 948cc converted to negative earth in order to fit a powermax electronic ignition. The ignition is working fine however I have noticed that there are some blue sparks which can be seen toward the back of the dynamo when the car is rev'd a little. I don't know whether this is normal or a problem associated with the new polarity. In should also mention that I bought a Lucas Gold Ignition coil as part of the bundle with the electronic ignition. I now notice that on the box it says 'sports coil'.

Also I am noticing a ticking coming from the engine which wasn't there before the recent changes. Can't quite place where this is coming from but is certainly onle since the polarity change and the new electronic ignition - may be coincidence.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards

Willie.

The dynamo will be needing new brushes - and clean the commutator while in there!
