Recently bought a "Do your brakes kit" from a well known supplier - paying extra for Lockheed rather than pattern. I was somewhat disappointed to find that although the ad in Minor Matters quotes "all cylinders etc" in fact the master cylinder is NOT included. I phoned them to ask where it was, and they pointed out that on the website it actually doesn't mention that it is included. I suggested that they made this clear, which they now have, saying master cyl not included.
What annoyed me, apart from having to fork out extra for the master, which they agreed to post free of charge at my request, was that it wasn't actually posted until Friday, rather than the promised Tuesday. When I asked if they could therefore post it express so I had it for the weekend - they wanted to charge me an extra tenner! GRRRRR!

I think the price of the kit would surely have told you if a new master cylinder was included... It's not an inexpensive item.....

Good whinge and lesson to really check out packaged deals. I am re-building Rose the Traveller and have been caught out with full polybush kit....which was not every bush.Now I try to check and tot up individual parts. Also found that so called sale items are based on pitifully low reductions. Less than 5%. As I am trying to renew as much as possible on Rose this time round, made the mistake of cutting corners before, I trawl the usual suspects looking at prices. The biggest problem is the amount of low quality far eastern cloned parts especially on e bay. Seems to be endemic in the motor industry as prices are driven down and margins come under pressure.All classic vehicles seem to be effected when the volumes make it worthwhile. Good friend is re-building a TR4A and some of the new pattern parts are chronic in quality and fit.
The only hope maybe the move back to UK manufacture as supply chain problems and costs increase and customers realise low price can mean poor quality and back up.
Good luck with the brakes especially the bleeding and may the the Lord of Brakes grant you a hard pedal first time round.Last time round for me EEzi Bleed and lots of positive pressure finally did the trick.

When I've seen those kits on suppliers sites in the past its normally fairly explicit that the M/C isn't included

well it is now as they actually state, at my suggestion that the m/c isn't included in the main body of the item listing on their catalogue, rather than in the further info bit. When I last bought a kit for my previous Morris, it was all cyls included - so I made a not unreasonable assumption that hadn't changed.

Never assume! I once phoned a certain Morris spares dealer about an exhaust system.They told me how much it was,and I asked what time they were open till.I then set off for a 30 mile round trip,only to be told,Oh we don`t actually have one in stock!!
