I've just noticed that just below the right hand side of the speedo (you only see it if you look from below) is a small switch.
Rather than dismantling things and trying to trace wires etc., can anyone tell me what this switch is for?
Thanks,
John

I've never seen a witch there - but as aupickup says its for the speedo lights. In my dad's car it turns them off and on seperate the the headlights (ie when you turn the lights on you seem to also have to turn this on - and off after) but on my ute it works with the head lights and the switch just allows it to be turned off - battery saving?

battery saving?
yes - in the good old days in the UK people used to park with the side lights on in the dark. The additional speedo lights don't draw a lot but if you're leaving them on for hours it all helps

I now have an image of a miniature lady with a hooked nose in a pointy had floating on a broomstick below the speedo..

Can this modification make German saloons with arrogant drivers or "Essex boys" in white baseball caps dissapear at will??

No, it's like death and tax - just another fact of life!

I thought in Kent you just used Shepherd Neame products to make them fall over by taking the top of the bottle.
