buying a daily use car

My girlfriend is so jealous of lily that she is thinking of getting one of her own. She is used to driving a ford ka, but i was thinking what modifications would she need on a minor to make it an ok daily drive (about 30 miles a day)? Brakes obviously, but what else would people recommend?

We don't want anything concours or overly flash just something relatively decent, and modern enough in terms of driving experience as not to be too great a culture shock! Though to be fair, i struggled driving the ka!

You don't actually need to make any modifications to a Minor to make it "an OK daily drive", just ensure that it is well maintained, but there are lots of upgrades / modifications available if you want to go down that route (disk brakes, upgraded seats etc) - it depends on what your budget is. If she hasn't done so already, let your girlfriend have a drive in your car before thinking about which modifications she feels she would need, or even whether she would want a Minor as a daily drive. Then when you look for one to buy you can keep an eye out for one which has those modifications already or factor in the cost of fitting them to a 'standard ' Minor.

My missus loves our Minor, as an experienced driver but having never driven it and watching me Sunday, easing the choke back as the engine warmed, changing in to second gear prior to first at a standstill to ease the no synchro issue, braking earlier, keeping a greater distance than we would in the Honda, generally Driving again like we used to, she commented "theres an awful lot to keep an eye on isnt there?" She will drive it and competently too, but Louise is right, a test drive or two would be a great idea.
