Hi folks
I'm just starting some work on the car, removing the tired and unnecessary brake servo, replacing the brakes and diff, and also the radiator and all coolant hoses. I remember that Roy (I think) mentioned last year that the 1275 would be somewhat stifled by the current arrangement of air filter. Just wondered what would be the recommended way to go here? I don't want to disturb the engine by playing around with different heads etc, but if it can be allowed to breathe more readily with an alternative inlet, what would people advise please?
Also, what would the neatest and best way to block off the vacuum take-off from the manifold?

Oh dear yes - that air filter is hopeless. I have a K&N type filter - works well, but a bit noisy. Others have fitted filter casing etc from later cars such as Maestro/Princess to seemingly good effect. best way to block the hole will be with a plug! I think it's 5/8" thread - possibly UNF - although not sure on that - sorry.

if going down the maestro route for the air filter you will also need the elbow as the air filter sits around the dash pot. it is usual to use the mg maestro air filter but be aware there are two types, one of which points to the back of the car and will not fit apparently. The other points towards the front of the car and works fine.
