Yes, cancelled this morning a bit after 8am. Not exactly a lot of use for me, having already arrived. I think it was MOT 2005 (someone will correct me if I've got it wrong) it p****d down for the whole week. Perhaps we should all have just come back home, eh?

All entrants who were pre-booked for the rally were contacted by 7.15 this morning, informing them of the comittee decision to postpone the rally, due to severe weather conditions. All members have "Minor Matters" magazine, it was also printed in there to check availabilty before attending if not pre-booked to avoid disappointment. Some people were booked from as far afield as Dorset and Bristol and they were informed in plenty of time to. Unfortunately we cannot control the weather and we are not pshycic. If you had pre-booked, or phoned, you would have been informed and could have had a lie-in.

No, you're right, I didn't book. I spoke to your web editor yesterday instead and told him I was coming.
I think its at best disingenuous to suggest "check availability" because I can't think of many branch sec's, and I know a fair few, who'd welcome a phone call at 7.15am. Even your hosts didn't know of the cancellation until I told them at 8.15 when one of them drove over to where I was parked.
Still, its all irrelevant now. I think its a pretty poor show to cancel an event on the day, especially for a bit of rain. We must all work for British Rail

i live local to the venue and was most gratified to be woken at 7am to be notified of the postponment. more than a bit of rain if the number of blown over trees is a measure. i used the now free time lashing things down etc. good call to postpone.

I also live very close to the venue (about 4 miles away) and can vouch that the weather was absolutely atrocious.

I received a text to let me know the event had been cancelled but decided to have a wander down anyway as we really had nothing else planned and it was Myrtle's first opportunity to attend a club event as she passed her first MOT in many years on the previous Friday.

Having arrived at about 10am it was great to meet up with Clare and Martin and I shall look forward to coming along and meeting you at further events. Personally, i think the right call was made to postpone the event and hope that everyone that wanted to attend will be able to attend next time.

I was on my way from Manchester via Stoke, got as far as McDonald’s (about 1 mile from home) when I received a text from Gill Shaw to say it was off . So of the people who had started their journey can I claim the prize for shortest distance travelled.

Hmmm, okay, seems reasonable. But I've got a shout for furthest distance when the rescheduled event is held because I'm gonna count both trips

oh go on then!

This has now been rescheduled for June 24th.
