I'm just finishing off the interior of my ute and as per usual the door cards are bent and buckled and I'm wanting to get new ones rather than put the old ones back on.

I was talking to a chap who recovered the seats and he had a card which was simular with the texture etc but was very thin and I imagine would buckle quicker than the original. He also had one slightly thicker but it had no pattern on the surface.

What type of places am I best to try for such card? Is it available anywhere cut to shape for the minor?

Yes, Newton commercial supply new complete door cards and I
imagine they would supply just the uncovered cards if you asked
them? BUT,of course, you are in NZ??? Have you thought of
using a suitable thickness of hardboard and using the originals as
a template? (if you rebuild a door properly then all orifices should
be covered with waterproof material which means, in theory, that
damp in the door should never reach the door cards to warp them)!

That's right - Hence my question, What type of places am I best to try for such card? Some one told me to try a packing company - But I'm still unsure that they would have the textured stuff.

Well the story was a little different when it came to the very last minor LCVs which were thrown together. How is it best to cover these over? I've seen them with plastic sheets ansd I guess a bead of glue?

Yes, I have seen complete plastic sheets protecting the door cards.
On my present Minor each orifice has a 'cut to shape' piece of
vinyl sheeting which is glued to the metal and seems to stop any
water ingress. I have also fitted the rubber type window seals
(along the bottom window edge) which are much more efficient
than the original 'brush' type at keeping moisture out. From
your remarks I gather that your ute doesn't have ' covered' door
cards so I can't comment about something about which I know
nothing!

The textured door cards were not available when I bought mine from Newton commercial they sent me plain ones, had I known I would have made them from hardboard myself, although the originals are a little less than 1/8 inch, I'd say 1/10 inch. The current stock situation may be better.
