Welcome to the messageboard Andrew

There are quite a few regulars on here from South Wales so hopefully someone will be able to help out.
It might be worth contacting the Young Members Register via their Facebook page - details here:
http://www.mmoc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=70&t=35620
There's also a South Wales branch of the MMOC if you need to contact fellow Minor owners locally :
http://swmmoc.morrisminor.com/
And it’s always a good idea to get yourself a workshop manual as Minors are pretty easy to work on.

As said, join the ym facebook page
http://www.facebook.com/groups/MMOCYM/ Is there a specific problem you have? Or what work do you want to do? You seem to be being abit general. Get the haynes manual, probably a good start, even if it isnt perfect, you can always ask for advice or look on here when doing a specific job.

Hi Andrew and welcome,
If you get a chance drop into St Fagans on the 20th May, you will meet loads of people with Minors (a few from your part of the world) who will be happy to offer advice and help out if they can.

I'm in Cardiff and I'm also the Registrar for the Young Member's Register. I'm more than happy to help if you like

.
Well worth joining the young members group on facebook!
Is the car on the road yet? Quite a few of the young members are going to the South Wales Branch Rally is St. Fagans on the 20th May (most of them sleeping at my house over the weekend

). Do pop along and say hi even if your car isn't on the road
P.S. If you have my old 1954 I will cry!

Mine wasn't maroon it was empire green. I think I might know the car though, might have belonged to the chairman of another car club I was in and had a lot of work done on it by a good friend of mine. Does the reg begin/end with NDG?

Well it might be worth meeting up sometime and I can tell you whats been done to it. Infact I might be able to get my best mate to come along as he did all the work on it.
I know every wing was taken off the car except the front driver's side wing. All the inner wings were rotten so they were replaced and a new a-post was put in on the passenger side. If I was worried about anywhere it's the what lies under the driver's side wing as that wasn't take off at the time!
If I remember correctly one of the chassis legs was looking a bit worse for wear when the chairman of the car club sold it, has this been replaced?

Well when I last saw the car it was certainly drivable they were just areas that needed some attention.
Personally I would upgrade the gearbox as well. I would go for the 948 gearbox in order to retain the 'magic wand' gearstick.
It seems at this moment in time I know your car better than you do

. Like I say, perfectly willing to help if I can.

yea you do haha well i had the engine out to paint (its back in now)but was told not to worry about the box as it was running fine and upgrade wouldn make alot of difference i wanted to but couldn find a box so just put it back together

The 948 gearbox is a MUCH stronger gearbox with better ratios, I'd question the person you were getting such information from (apologies if I've now offended a family member or close friend

).
The 1098 box is stronger again but you'd either have to loose the longer gearstick, cut a hole in the floor and go to the short one like the later cars or modify the box (which isn't the most straight forward of jobs I understand). If you do get the offer of a 948 box cheap I'd get it!
Also, paint the engine? It was pretty shiny when I saw it last!

if i can find one i shall when i got the car it was abit oily and dirty so gave it a fresh look leaf green keeping the classic look
from what i can see the chrome needs attention a respray and the brake pedal is hard
