clunking noise

Post by ronnie »

hi , i have a clunking noise coming from what sounds like inside the passenger door , stripping off the panel there is nothing loose etc . exhaust is solid , no apparent play in any wheel bearings and trunions . When i carry a passenger the noise goes away by at least 70% as if the extra weight dampens something , any suggestions where to go from hear :-?

It could be the exhaust banging the bulkhead when the engine rocks.

Take it off and have a good look at it! Just a thought....... check the front damper securing bolts are good and tight -and I suggest drain the oil from all the dampers and refill with SAE 30 or even better SAE 40. Empty dampers rattle !!
