trunnions

Hi
can you tell me please if I can fit a new top RH trunnion without having to dismantle the whole area?

...well it's easier than the bottom one!
You still need to 'unload' the torsion bar as you slide the trunnion off the damper pin. If you don't know what you're doing, it can go with a bang and break your arm.
The other problem is that the swivel pin is worn too. A new trunnion might not fix it.

Support the car chassis on axle stands and jack up the lower suspension arm to take the load from the torsion bar. Undo the top link rear nut, remove any spacers, washers etc and tap the top link backwards, holding the swivel pin upright and it should come off.
Check for wear on the swivel pin thread as well as the top link.
If you are fitting poly bushes smear them with grease. Take the grease nipple out of the top link and pack with grease before screwing on. Replace grease nipple when grease come out of the hole.
When the link is screwed on fully make sure that you can turn it 90 deg in both directions

Yes - as Mike describes - you don't 'unload' the T bar - in fact you load it up by putting a jack under the lower suspension arm - just enough to lift the top arm off the rebound stop. And yes - poly bushes are essential in that top trunnion/top arm link. They make a huge improvement to the handling.
