Hello Marky,
I think the lady in the news regarding decanting petrol in her kitchen with a lit stove would qualify? I know she has suffered dreadfully for this but really, what was she thinking about?
Mind you, years ago, I've seen locals in Saudi Arabia smoking as they filled their car at a petrol pump.

A few years ago, there was no need to leave this island to see the smoking/petrol filling game being played.

Assistance dogs only. No dogs allowed. Dogs must be kept on a lead. No dogs allowed on beach between 1st Apri and 31st March. No dogs allowed on beach between high water line and low water line. OK so I made that last one up.

The underlying problem can easily be summed up, "no win, no fee"
This brick doesn't say don't hit yourself on the head with this, so I did, now my head hurts and it's not my fault, I'm going to sue someone.

H&S info on bottle of drain cleaner bought last week states: 'Do not pour down drains'!!!
Hmm, where shall I pour it then.....

You're meant to drive to the nearest "re-cycle centre" (in my case 20 mile round trip) and queue until it's your turn to be lead by a "specialist" in a highviz jacket to pour it away in the proper council approved recepticle!
How enviromentally friendly is that using all that fuel to take it!

But that was after the instructions which said pour down the plughole to clear the blockage....

One drop of that stuff can get into the watercourse and kill off a rare breed of crayfish unique to that particular stretch of river

I'm quite prepared to believe its nasty stuff and harmful to nature, its just the blatant contradiction on the packaging between the instructions 'pour down plughole to clear blockage' and the H&S warning 'do not pour down drains'. I'm tempted to take it back to the shop and ask but haven't really got the time to waste...

Maybe there is a difference between a plug hole and a drain??

Hello Mike,
not in terms of where they finally end up, which for the majority of cases is in a sewage treatment plant. Isolated properties will have their own self contained system. The water authorities control and issue licences for any discharge into a water course.
