Ok update so far.
Cleaned and polished the carb and fitted the new rebuild kit and new needle, now runs like a dream.
The car had no brakes,so fearing the worst Ifilled the master cyl which was empty and bled the brakes, result excellent brake pedal.
Had the engine running for quite a while and it sounds quiet,no rattles etc, heater blows nice and warm.
So now I will be taking it to work on sat and put it on the ramp and check it right through.
Will post more after its been on the ramp. :D

Sounds great except where did the brake fluid go, and are the brakes actually operating?
A firm pedal with a complete set of seized cylinders isn't what you want to be driving anywhere!

The brakes are working fine, there is one wheel cyl that is leaking, new ones ordered ,not taking any chances, the car has been stood for 10 yrs.
Cheers Si

if the car has been sitting for 10 years, i would replace the flexible hoses as well at the same time and get a service kit for the master cylinder ( save on postage by getting all at once ) as after 10 years i would imagine the rubber to have perished / hardened up and may well fail after a few uses.
