Restoration Services?

I have just inherited my Fathers Morris Minor 1000 Saloon.

It was thoroughly restored around 1990, and then used once for my own Wedding in September that year.
Since that time it has sat in dry storage in his garage in Colchester.

I want to get the car back on the road again and get it moved to Winchester where I live.

Can anyone suggest a local (to Colchester) Morris Minor restoration services who could coax the car back to life and give her a thorough TLC service. She will need to be collected from my Fathers garage.

Many thanks

Colin

Hello Colin, welcome to the forum and the great world of Minor ownership. I have sent you a PM, but some other thoughts:

Dry store is no guarantee against rust, but will certainly help. When did you last look at it? If the chassis is sound, and the brakes are not locked on, then moving it should be quite simple. With the spark plugs out, squirt some oil down the bores, and then turn the engine by hand. If it turns freely, then check for compression. If OK, then it can go for a start :D Use fresh petrol, check that the pump ticks and then stops. The brakes will need a full service. However, none of this is that major, and could be completed quite quickly and easily. It all depends upon the condition of the car.

Very little coaxing should be needed and no specialist is required.
simmitcs advice is spot on, some tinkering may be needed on the brakes, otherwise start it up and take it to the nearest old school MOT joint.
